There are tons of gorgeous places to elope in the desert, but this gorgeous overlook is special. If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-path for your elopement, this inspiration is for you.

Dreamy Elopement in the Desert at Secret Overlook

Off the Beaten Path Elopement

Oh man, this location. Was. A. Dream. I use a lot of resources and spend a lot of time location scouting out here around Phoenix. There are tons of well known spots for desert elopements that are a mere, 1, 2, or 4 hours from Phoenix (Like the Superstitions, Sedona, and Page AZ) that get a lot of screen time. Understandably- they are inarguably gorgeous. And very familiar and well worn spots for an elopement in the desert.

But I won’t lie that I really love finding secret gems that are a total surprise, that make you gasp and say “where is that?” So when I stumbled upon this spot (gorgeous golden grass? Mountain horizon lines? Desert lakes?) I knew I found a special spot.

And I knew it was the perfect spot for Logan and Nicole, who who may recognize from this engagement shoot! I was sooo stoked to work with these two again; they are a true power couple and their love for each other is so obvious. They are both trainers and recently opened their own gym (Fuel Yours) and are serious goals when it comes to tackling a dream with your partner. The level of support, connection, and drive these two have… is legit inspirational.

So you see why I needed a special, epic spot for these two. The day was sunny and gorgeous (like, these were taken in January, ya’ll. Arizona, I love you). One thing I really loved about this location for an elopement in the desert is that while there is some light hiking involved (and also some very brief 4×4 driving), it takes very little effort to get some really massive payoff. We wandered along the edge of the overlook, the sun dipped a little lower, and we found ourselves at the ceremony site. Totally private, not another soul around. The entire time we were there we legit didn’t see another person.

And boy did Arizona put on a show. The sun dipped lower and lower and dipped below the horizon just after Nicole and Logan kissed. It was so freaking magical, I can’t even say. I’m so grateful I got to spend the day with these, two. Peak Existence for sure.

Also special thanks to La Vie Floral Company for the *stunning* bouquet!

  15. […] Forgive the vague nature of this name: this spot in particular is off the beaten path and not a place that could handle a mass influx in visitors. It’s a stunning place, amazing sunset vistas, golden fields, mountains lit gold at sunset. It’s not too far from Phoenix (just a two drive) and one of my favorite hidden gems. It’s why I love location scouting and exploring this great state- it is FULL of surprises. You can see more of this amazing spot in this blog post. […]
