Hi, friends. That was weird.
Honestly, I’ve written this post in my head a few times now. There’s bound to be lots of hot takes about 2020 and I don’t know if I necessarily have tons of new thoughts to contribute about this year on a macro level. It was weird. It was painful. It was endless. It was, at times, great? I dunno ya’ll. I feel lots of things.
It was a painful year. I’m not going to recount all the painful things that happened this year because a) we all just lived it and b) that’s what google is for. I’ve been waiting for 2020 to end but now that I’m here knocking on the door of 2021, it’s super clear that 2021 will be still full of it’s own difficulties. We’re still in the middle of this pandemic, the problems that were exposed in our world are still very much there and just because the dates on the calendar change doesn’t mean that those problems don’t magically vanish.
That is all true. But even still, the promise of a new year, a fresh start, a blank slate, is kind of thrilling. And if you think about it, that’s a little bit of what a wedding is. A fresh start. A new adventure. And being a part of an industry that was absolutely rocked this year, I found myself lucky to be in this niche of mine (yeah, adventure weddings and elopements!) because that meant I still got to bear witness to people choosing to seek light in the dark. I got to be part of all of these folks wedding days and it was utter magic. The omnipresent cloud that was 2020 didn’t make these elopement days dimmer, if anything it made them brighter. More special. More amazing. Somehow more rad as hell. I was and am in awe of all these couples. I’m so damn lucky to call this my job.
So here are my faves. I’m absolutely terrible at picking favorites of anything, so this was quite the task, but here is my “Best Of” post of 2020. I’m super stoked to share it with ya’ll 🙂
Are you still here? WOW. You win. Thanks for sticking with me though my inability to decide favorites. Cheers 🙂
