A Yosemite Micro Wedding Full of Adventure and Family

When it comes to documenting weddings and elopements, I feel like couples usually fall into one of two camps. Some choose a place that they’ve grown to love, and that really means something special to them. And then there are couples like T + P, who decide to celebrate one of the biggest days of their lives by throwing themselves into a brand new adventure together. For these two, that adventure was a Yosemite micro wedding. And honestly… what a freaking place to experience for the very first time!

If you know me at all, you already know that I’m OBSESSED with Yosemite. I could come here a hundred times and still get excited every single time. But getting to experience it through T + P’s eyes somehow made it feel brand new all over again. Every stop was another literally jaw-dropping moment, and getting to watch them take it all in was seriously the best.

We packed SO much into this day, and I was absolutely here for it. They exchanged vows at Glacier Point, shared a picnic down in the valley, wandered through Yosemite’s high country and the giant sequoias, and ended the day watching the sun disappear from Taft Point. It was adventure after adventure after adventure. 

Days like this are exactly why I love what I do. I seriously cannot WAIT to share more from their Yosemite micro wedding.

Why a Yosemite Micro Wedding Was the Perfect Fit for T + P

When T + P first started planning their micro wedding, they knew one thing for sure – they wanted their family to be part of the celebration. At the beginning, they thought that meant a traditional wedding, and even toured a few wedding venues, but it didn’t feel quite right. They wanted something that felt a little more adventurous and unique, while still giving themselves the chance to actually slow down and soak in the day together.

So, when we got connected, and started tossing around ideas, a Yosemite adventure felt like the PERFECT solution for them.

They got to celebrate with their favorite people during the first part of the day, then headed off to explore the park with just the two of them. It really was the best of both worlds.

As for the adventure? Well… Yosemite totally had that covered.

A Yosemite Micro Wedding Day Packed With Adventure

When T + P first reached out, one of the biggest things they told me was that they wanted to really EXPERIENCE Yosemite, not just get married there. Safe to say we achieved that goal. Their day was an absolute dream from sunrise to sunset, packed full of incredible views, meaningful moments, and so much joy.

Sunrise at Glacier Point

By the time the sun started to rise, T + P were already kicking off their day at Glacier Point. And getting there early was SO worth it. There were hardly any crowds, and Glacier Point was absolutely SHOWING OFF with the morning light pouring into the valley below and Half Dome glowing in the distance.

After sunrise, we spent some time exploring the iconic viewpoints around Glacier Point together. One of my favorite parts was getting to watch T + P take it all in for the very first time. They were genuinely in awe of the landscape, and getting to document those reactions was so much fun.

Before long, their family arrived, and T + P exchanged vows with the incredible Yosemite Valley backdrop behind them. Epic doesn’t even begin to describe it. 

Picnic in the Valley

After the ceremony, everyone made their way down into Yosemite Valley for a picnic. They found the PERFECT spot right along the Merced River with El Capitan towering overhead. It was such a classic Yosemite view, and since T + P had their micro wedding in October, everything was glowing with beautiful golden fall colors.

Their family set up a table with their wedding cake, greenery, and orange and red roses that fit the fall vibe perfectly. We celebrated with a champagne toast, cut the cake, and then came the pièce de résistance: a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye. Let’s just say… they understood the assignment when it came to making this celebration feel extra special.

Everyone spent some time hanging out together before it was finally time for T + P to head off on the adventure portion of their wedding day, just the two of them.

Exploring the Sequoias

After saying goodbye to family, the three of us headed to the Tuolumne Meadows area of the park to explore the towering sequoias. T + P brought along cold pizza and PB&Js they picked up in Curry Village (which I LOVE because fun little food choices like this make the day feel so personal to each couple) and started on a two-mile hike. 

But let me tell you, this wasn’t just a simple stroll through the woods. There was some legit elevation gain, and T was also PREGNANT! And she absolutely crushed it. She was ready to experience every part of the adventure, and I loved seeing how fully she embraced the day. Exploring the sequoia grove was absolutely incredible, and I loved how T + P really interacted with the trees and immersed themselves in the landscape.

Sunset at Taft Point

To cap off T + P’s already experience-full day, we headed out to Taft Point, one of the best places in the park to watch the sunset. You’ve got the valley stretching out below you, with another incredible view of El Capitan right in front of you. The only thing about Taft Point, though, is that it’s a 2,000-foot cliff, and T isn’t exactly a huge fan of heights.

But being the badass she is, she really wanted to get the shot, so we worked through those nerves together. I even laid down on the ground to capture the photo so she didn’t have to worry about me being right on the cliff’s edge and adding any extra stress to the moment. And eventually, we got that iconic shot of them together with the entire valley spread out beneath them.

It was the perfect ending to a seriously epic Yosemite micro wedding that truly had it all.

The Little Things That Made This Yosemite Micro Wedding So Special

I could go on and on about all the special things about T + P’s Yosemite micro wedding, but what really stuck with me was just how fully they embraced the day. They had a MUCH longer day than most of my couples, AND T was pregnant! Like seriously, wow. They brought so much energy and excitement to every part of the day and didn’t let anything stop them from soaking it all in.

I also loved how they didn’t feel like they had to make any sacrifices with their micro wedding. Sometimes with elopements, one part of the day can accidentally become an afterthought, but T + P found this amazing balance where both their family time and their intentional time together were equally prioritized. Plus, it was so fun seeing how STOKED they were about Yosemite. I can easily say it was an unforgettable experience to be part of!
